The Brazilian Army published in its internal bulletin the creation of a Feasibility Study Group to deal with the acquisition of up to 86 M119A2 105 mm towed guns, which would be obtained through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program, from the arsenals of the United States Armed Forces.
the Brazilian Army plans to replace 40 M101 105 mm guns, which have, on average, more than 75 years of operation.
After complementary and additional studies, 40 L118 Light Guns, of British origin (25 years of use) and 54 Oto Melara M56 guns, of Italian origin (35 years of use) will also be replaced.
Initially, the revitalization of these materials should be in charge of the Arsenals of War and the Regional Maintenance Parks, which would allow the new materials to operate for at least 30 years.
